New York Times article features Bozeman’s Katie Haase on bat research

A February article in the New York Times science section highlights the work of bat expert Dr Katie Haase of the Bozeman Disease Ecology Lab. A reporter and photographer joined Katie and her colleagues in the field last fall as they stealthily visited caves and abandoned mines searching for bats in Nevada. The research team is assessing the susceptibility of bat species and populations to white-nose syndrome in the West. Ultimately, their work will help inform a conservation strategy aimed at protecting the bats.
